Remember You Best With No Dress

LYRICS

In the moonlight night so bright

You caught my sight, pure delight

Twirling around, feet off the ground

With that dress, you truly astound

Glimmer and glow, put on a show

With every step, my heart says whoa

Dress up or down, with a smile or frown

In heels or in town, you wear the crown

Nice dress painting the night

That memory’s a light in my sight

Patterns that press, a dance to impress

I remember you best with no dress

Fabric or lace, you set the pace

But it’s your face I won’t replace

Dress short or long, with you I belong

With or without, our bond is strong

Twinkling eyes, no disguise

With every beat, my heart flies

Glimmer and gleam, like in a dream

With every theme, you’re my team

Nice dress painting the night

That memory’s a light in my sight

Patterns that press, a dance to impress

I remember you best with no dress

Beyond the attire, it’s your fire

That takes me higher, fuels my desire

With every step, a promise is kept

In love we’ve leapt, a secret in depth

Nice dress painting the night

That memory’s a light in my sight

Patterns that press, a dance to impress

I remember you best with no dress

In silhouette, your beauty did impress

I do attest, you stood out from the rest

My true feelings, I cannot repress

I remember you best with no dress

INSPIRATION

The working title of this song started out as “Nice Dress” and was about admiration for a loved one’s beauty and elegance and is astounded by their dress, with its fabric and lace. We have been asked lots of times whether a dress looked good on our partner. The last time I was asked this response surfaced in my mind, and though I didn’t use it, I made note of it and wrote this song instead. It’s you I’m about, the dress is elective. That changed the direction of this song to “Nice Dress But…. With or without our bond is strong” After that it took on a life of its own, and the truth comes out that no matter how gorgeous the dress, I prefer you best, with no dress.
